91 300E hesitates when accelerating

hello, I have a 91 300e that is a bit hard to get started. At first it will start then die and after a few tries it will start up and idle. When you accelerate it it slowly revs up while sputtering. If you try to drive it, it will only get up to around 30 mph. Also, when you are sitting and idle and you go to accelerate it will make poping noises and sometimes will backfire. I am unsure where to look or what to fix first. The ignition system appears to be recently replaced. The OVP has 2 fuses which I believe is the updated one. I will note thought that the ABS light is on. Check engine is not. Please help!

Abs light is usually not good. Check the fuses of the ovp.

You say the ignition system seems new, but wires, cap and rotor look like new even years and many thousands of miles later.

Give us a bit of service history on the vehicle. Was it running OK up until.....?
Generally, it's either a fuel issue, ignition issue, or vacuum issue, but there are so many possibilities that more information is required.
