102 engine mount suspect
Hi, All
Whilst changing the engine oil I managed to have a good look under the engine. I saw that the engine mounting under the intake plumbing did not look like it's partner under the exhaust plumbing. Most, if not all, of the engine mount issues raised in this forum are for the larger engined W124's, so my stint in the archives were not 100% applicable ... How will I know, visually, if the mount is suspect. I have a 4 speed manual and there is some movement of the stick if you accellarate / decelarate - no metal-to-metal stuff jet .... How easy are they to change ? If anyone has a pic or two that they are willing to share - that'll be superb !! Louis |

sub-frame mounts vs. engine mounts
Hi, Anthony
Thanks for the link, but the mountings I refer to are not the same as the sub-frame mounts mentioned in the article, nor do they look the same. Replacing the engine mounts would probably require the 102 engine to be lifted to allow the mount to be changed. Problem is: where do I lift, by how much and what must be dismantled to achieve this. thanks again, anyway L |
