Seeking fault codes for 1996 E320 (W210 / M104)

The check engine light (ENGINE ELECTRONICS) came on, I did a search and found this EXCELLENT article about using AC display to read fault codes from Steve Brotherton of Continental Imports. It has the '97 codes but I need the '96 codes. It came up codes b1234 and b1235, BTW. Anybody have this info?

Also, in case I do fix it, how do I reset the check engine light?

Thanks in advance!

-Tom

P.S. I am going to do the EGR line cleaning described in this article from the DIY section of MercedesShop.com but I'm not clear on how the EGR valve best comes off; do I remove the screws on the EGR valve where the line goes in that face the ground, or is there a better way?

The article you refer to and the codes within are only for the climate control. Every system has codes on your car and only the ones from climate control can be viewed this way. The codes that are responsible for the check engine light are stored in trhe DM (diagnostic module) on the 96. It also has engine codes in the HFM-SFI module and the EA/CC/ISC module. In 97 all was incorporated into the ME module.

The light and the codes are delt with using an OBDII scanner or some version of full car scanner.

BTW the body codes you got from the A/C on your 96 should be the same as those in trhe article for a 97. Should be the same till 99.
