97 320 center console lights erratic

The center console night driving lights;radio light, and shift plate light have been going off and on for a while. I've removed the center console, cleaned the pins, made sure the various light bulbs are tight (haven't replaced any yet). Sometimes almost everything works but mostly in the last week no nighttime lighting. The last cleaning yesterday improved the mileage and time indicator lights (they were working but were dim)but all the other illuminating lights on the sides went out completely (some of them were working ) and the radio light still doesn't work?????? ANy help would be appreciated.
