1998 S320 W140 A/C problem

A/C comes out of side dash vents and defroster vent but not out of center dash vent. Neither Auto mode nor manual control mode. How do I fix this? What do I look for?

the little buttons on the controller break off.You can carefully super glue them, but I think its a waste of time.I don't know if new ones are still made.Would be nice to do away with it,and go to w126 controls.
