Question Opinions appreciated on value

Contemplating purchasing a complete 2.88:1 ratio differential with original half shafts attached. The unit reportedly has ~150K miles.

Reading some posts, changing from a 3.07:1 ratio to a 2.88:1 ratio is worthwhile under certain circumstances.

Would appreciate any comments on what would be considered a fair price to pay for this unit and if the change-out make sense. There is presently nothing wrong with my 3.07.

I have thus far vastly improved my 300TD and intend on keeping it for as long as I can maintain it myself, if that makes any difference.

Frank comments solicited, thank-you in advance.
