Take the trunk mat / plastic floor / spare out and look for missing rubber plugs. Be sure to take the plastic floor cover out between the spare and back of seat also. On my 97 C280 one plug was never installed from factory.

Also, look behind the bumper side wings, there is a vent in that area that might be missing / leaking.

My E430 had a Honda Odyssey deep dish style cargo mat to collect the rain when I bought it. The seals on top of trunk opening from the rear window were not lined up correctly. I stretched them back into place and the trunk has been dry since.

Pulled everything out the trunk and got inside and had someone hose it down no water? I did find a missing plug for one of the holes under that black plastic cover in the trunk behind the seat!

Did you have your helper direct the hose around the edges of the taillights? Sometimes they are the source of leaks.

No thought of that after the fact. Left everything out the trunk I'll try that next!
