Buying a 380 SL

My brother is looking a a 380 SL in Michigan and would like some tips on what to look at.

The owner is asking $8,500. The car has 110,000 miles on it and the convertable top needs replacing. Hard top included.

I don't think there are any records of service, especially by a MB dealer.

380 SL

Make sure the simplex timing chain has been replaced with duplex (1981-1983 engines 116.96). It's a $3000 job!.
