Odd W123 power window problem. Help!
Working on an '85 W123 (300CD)....it had a dead rt rear window motor. Checked it out, switches/wiring were "doing what it was supposed to". Pulled seat and trim panel out, replaced motor.....motor works when "jumped"....now....Left front, and right rear windows don't work. No "hot" feeds to either switch....no blown fuses. Rt. front and left rear works as normal.
Any Ideas? I'm absolutely baffled. And that doesn't happen terribly often with electrical grief. Thanks... Jim |

Fixed. *grumble*
I long for the "bad old days" of paper shop manuals and real live pictures/diagrams on paper. It was a bad connection in the fuse box (with the label long gone).....and the wiring diagrams on the service cd's are not well suited to and old fart like me that likes to actually LOOK at something.
Sorry to bother. Jim |

It is usually a good idea on some of these age cars to just go ahead and replace all of the fuses with new ones.

I am having the same left front, right rear window problem you had. I also checked the fuse box and saw nothing wrong. I even switched the fuses around between the working pair of windows and the non-working pair, and I still had the same problem. I then triple-checked by trying a spare fuse, but the windows still did not work. You mentioned a "bad" connection in the fuse box, what did you mean by that?
The windows worked yesterday in the morning when I parked the car at work, but they were kaput when I tried to open them for my drive home. Thanks, Dan 1985 300D |
