Raw Gas Fumes

Good morning,
On my daughters 87 300e (135K) I can smell raw petrol after shut off from short trips in a closed garage. I see no leaks but I wonder if this could be a problem with the carbon can. The car runs very well with no miss etc.

If the smell is stronger under the hood than anywhere else, it is possibly a leaking EHA (Electro-hydraulic actuator). it is a fuel injection component. You need to take the air cleaner assembly off to check it. It mounts to the fuel distributor assembly to the rear side,slightly toward the valve cover.
Fairly common leak.
