280SE fuel economy, cruise control

280SE fuel economy, cruise control

My 1979 280SE has standard (poor) fuel consumption. Are there any reliable and simple suggestions for improvement? Also, the cruise control accel/decelerates too much when travelling on bumpy roads, continually varying throttle input. Something has got to be loose.
