Motor mount bolt MIA
Anyone know the size and thread of the 8mm center motor mount bolt? Mercedes 300d 1985
|
Get vin and take it to dealer and purchase the proper fastener. I can't imagine it being over about $5. Pretty sure you won't find the correct fastener at Home Depot.
|
Closest Mercedes dealer is about 2 hour drive from me is the only Thing lol
|
disom93, call a MB dealer and have them mail/ship the bolt to you, or go to a salvage yard ... which will entail a lot of work for a low cost item.
|
If you are talking about the small bolts that fit into the underside of the mount itself - through the cross member then I am pretty sure they are of 8.8 strength (minimum for these cars) and are of standard coarse metric thread what ever the size is.
If, however, you are talking about the bolts that hold the cross member to the chassis then I think they are 10.9 strength and could be a fine thread - I can't remember the specifications for sure. Use my uncertain information with caution! Do not cross thread or try to use the wrong thread! |
They have some hex bolts at Home Depot but not many. Probably none that size. You could take it to Home Depot to determine the length and thread size/pitch then order it online from Fastenal.

Bolts (If We're going UNKNOWN)
Metric
Try any Ace Hardware, they usually have a good selection! |
I just didn't have the one to try it's missing not sure where it went so was needing an idea of what to order
|
And yes it's the one coming from bottom thru the center
|
10x1.50 or 10x 1.75

disom93, describe the location of the bolt to the MB Parts Department rep and he will check the parts diagram for your car to provide the proper bolt. If you have never gone to a MB Parts Department, with the VIN for a car they can look up any part for any MB vehicle. That eliminates any guess work, or wondering if you are going to get the correct part.

Ok I called dealer they can get the bolt but they didn't know the size I guess I'll pull the other side one out and just take it to the store with me to see thanks for the help

It's not a 5$ bolt sadly....

$20 for a bolt like that is one of the many, many reasons I have ceased even calling Pelican
My PnP posts that screws are a dime each. Sure better than the screwing pelican wants to give us. |
