C2131 Fault Code
Hi. First time for me to post in these forums
![]() I have a 2003 E240 and got the service brakes warning. Deactivated SBC, Depressurized, Changed the pads and bled using the MB Star Diagnostics and came up with a C2131 (Pressure Reservoir Faulty) code. Changed the Pressure Reservoir as advised by the MB Star and also after reading some forum posts to confirm that this should be done but still we are not getting the fault cleared. The old pressure reservoir had a "pretensioning pressure" of 64 bar... Specific values should be 72 to 102 bar. The NEW Pressure Reservoir is only giving me 62 bar. We've bled using the Star and also a pressure bleeder but the fault and warning are still there. Does this need to be programmed or something? Thanks in advance for any tips or recommendations. |

A few things:
On this list, there are some that equate SBC with the Hindenburg mooring in Lakehurst NJ. . . . they would rather apply blind emotion over data and logic. You need to get a hold of a mercedes trouble shooting manual that lists the specific code you have. I'd think that, applying standard hydraulic theory, pre tensioning pressure would be gas pressure in the accumulator, this won't show up on a scan tool. It might be inferred by looking at pressure rise over time. A rapid pressure rise would infer a accumulator that has low gas pressure. A Mercedes manual would give more info. Look at the links / diagrams in my post 26 , pressure reservoir would be part 3 SBC in a 2005 E320 CDI |
