W124 Ignition Switch

Hi, question about the different components of the ignition switch. Mine is giving me problems lately (have to turn the key several times in order to get it to start) and seems to be getting worse. As a note, the key inserts freely and moves w/o any problem. It doesn't get hung up or stuck, etc. Just seems like the switch itself isn't working like it should.

I'm not sure exactly which part needs to be replaced. I'm seeing different parts online and not sure what I need. Since the key moves freely and the tumblers feel fine, I'm not sure that the cylinder itself needs to be replaced. I saw a part online with 7 pins that looks like it's the actual switch. Is that all I probably need to replace?

I've read several posts and removing the cylinder is described well. I'm not clear if the switch pulls out with the lock cylinder or if I have to do that from under the dash?

Any help is greatly appreciated.
