Well your in at the deep end .Lots of wires all over these creatures .Without pictures its hard to say ,or to even think what its for. And 90n % of us , have never seen inside the engine on these cars. I think i have seen 3 in my lifetime two in a refurb shop waiting to get done .And one in a garage being worked on .

Before you spend big money try this. because its not been run to much but it starts then stops there could be mosture in the tank or fuel lines and system, buy a couple of small bottles of gas line antifreez $ 1,98 put in gas tank this is mostly methenol ( this will eat up any water and should clear carb and injection system) run the engine if it stops they usually start right away and keep doing this till it keeps running and the system is cleared, fill up with new top graded gas with two more bottles, good luck. let me know how you made out.

Thats a Bosch K-Jetronic system. Similar to any mercedes v8 of this era, or porsche, or many other european cars. Being it set for 10 years, my moneys is on it being clogged up from gummy varnish. They have a cold start injector. Maybe its spraying enough to start vehicle, but the main nozzles are clogged, not letting it take off on its own? Maybe bad warm up regulator? Bad fuel pump? Id be suspicious of a fuel related problem personally.
