85 380SL hood pad removal and replacement. How do I get off the old pad?

Well actually how do I get off whats left of the old pad. The glue and all that is was held on with...

The pad itself is gone, but there remains the inside of it, that is crumbling to hell. I have a new hood pad waiting to go on, but am unsure of what to use to get the old crud off the inside of the hood so I have a nice clean surface to install the new pad..

Thanks

Alon
