gasket question

I'm getting ready to reinstall the glass lens on the front of a euro light. There is a rubber gasket that seals the lens from the housing. Is there anything special I should do with the gasket before reinstalling the lens to make sure it seals correctly and doesn't leak?

It is a rubber compression gasket and uses no adhesive/cement.
