Free Subscription to EPC?

Getting a free subscription was suggested to me as a way to cross-check that some parts in my son's 1990 300E are in fact the correct parts.

I did a search, but didn't come up with the info.

How do I get a free EPC subscription?

Thanks.

EPC-net Online

They will ask for credit card, but there is no charge if you are US based.

OK signed up for the EPC (Startekinfo.com), I'm fine with credit card info on line... but it needs Java to run and I don't have Java on my computer. I went to installation section of EPC, but their info doesn't match my Windows 7 control panel and what I find on the Oracle link.

Any help on installing EPC would be appreciated. Thanx.

You will need to install the latest version. You can download it directly from Oracle site:

https://www.java.com/en/download/help/download_options.xml

You can check if you have it installed in different browsers by opening this link with each browser you have installed:

https://www.whatismybrowser.com/is-java-installed (mine reports " Java 8 (u45) is installed " )

Once you have it installed and you try and access EPC, you will get a series of popup boxes. Just keep going and agree to everything and eventually you will get there. You can choose to bypass those security questions if you wish.

Java is a pain. Each time they upgrade it, it causes some access problems until MBUSA make changes.

I'm pretty sure that at one point Java screwed up my computer so much that I had to reinstall the OS.

And yes, the EPC can be a pain to use. The EPC itself is good, just the website is terrible.

When you do a search on EPC you had better input the part or number EXACTLY as EPC lists it or they "can't find it". I have a '97CL600 with the original analog telephone which I want to remove. I am curious about the mounting frame that it is attached to. So far, EPC has hidden the name. I've tried "phone", telephone" "car phone", "auto phone and autophone" and a few others. Sorry, It doesn't exist in my car.

Have you tried searching by system?
There just one or two places the phone might be.
One could be electrical - Section 82.
Go there, and you may find subsection 336 (Car Phone, Voice Control, etc)

Here is a snip of the result (may not be your car)

Graham, Thank you. This is for a newer car. Mine is a '97. Your picture is exactly how mine is installed. Mine shows only a microphone and wiring. There is a phone but no part number. I think I will take your part numbers and change to "140" and see if anything comes up.
Thanks again,
Anziani

I tried looking at the 140 series, but saw no CL600. Presumably if you enter your VIN, it accepts it and then the phone shows up in section 82.

Dealer parts dept may be able to help at least provide number.

Yes, there is confusion on the CL designation. The data cards on my previous S-500 coupe and this S-600 coupe both call out CL500 and CL600. I don't think the cars started showing the CL moniker until '98 on? I use the CL designation.

Warning - the Mercedes-Benz Teilekatalog (Ersatzteile online) page seems to have been hijacked by scammers.

Also http://www.partsbase.org link does not work as they seem to have let their domain name lapse.
