overhead lights coming on and won't cut off

While I'm dealing with my fuel leak issues I also have an electrical problem i need to address on my 99 E300TD. A while back I was driving at night and my overhead light came on randomly. It would not turn off and I had to disconnect the battery to get the bulb to cool down long enough so I could remove it. It seemed to resolve itself for a while and now it has started again. When I close the doors and lock the car it stays on draining my battery. I can open the car door and press the overhead light button which turns off the light, but as soon as I shut the door it comes back on and stays on. Does my suspicion that one of the light buttons on the door has gone bad sound likely? Any tips on how to diagnose which one? Also, is there a fuse I can pull that will cut off power to only the overhead lights and nothing else?
