1983 380sel dead dash lights

My dash lights do not work. I replaced the potentiometer or rheostat (new). The lights still do not work. I tested the 2 pins that the rheostat plugs into and there was no power when the light switch was turned on and the engine was running. Any suggestions to get the dash lights working?

replace the fuses-all of them-with copper or brass strips, not aluminum. i've fixed alot of problems just doing that. even no dash lights on a 123 last month. don't look at or test them, just replace. they corrode and/or crack in small places you may not see right away. good luck, chuck.
