Recently, a loud clicking noise (speed specific) is coming from the rear passenger wheel of my 79 450SEL. It does not occur all the time and only occurs when accelerating or in a mild acceleration cruise. If you let up on the gas it immediately goes away. Any ideas. The only service I've done is replace both rear shocks. Car has 125 K on odo.

The axel shafts do go bad over time on this model. It's like a CV joint on a Honda and can be rebuilt by most CV rebuilders.
