w201 Ignition Coil - Green vs Yellow Label
What's the difference between the two? The FSM says they are definitely not compatible. Mine is an aftermarket with no label.

I think there was a recent thread about coils. The only differences I can think of would be primary winding resistance. Possibly difference may be EZL or plain ignition module equipped? Does the manual give any testing info?

Yes the FSM has an entire page on this. It says the green label coil is for a-cylinder which looks like a typo. I think I have found the answer. Green label is for 8 cylinders and yellow label is for 4 or 6.

liquiddog your right . They are not intercahangable -- like you dont put a green labled coil on to a 4-6 cylinder with yellow sticker on ..The yellow coil is matched to the ecu and runs at a higher capacity . I f you have an engine thats eating coils then this is the reason it breaks down through overheating .
