w211 motor mounts

needing to replace the motor mounts on my dad's 2003 e320.

I've researched a bit and there seems to be conflicting info about how to best get at the mounts.

so does the exhaust come off?

looking for the simplest approach.

w211 chassis

thanks!

I did it on the C320 (same engine). Either the exhaust comes off or the AC compressor and alternator come off. Your choice. You will need either a cut off 17mm wrench for the top bolt on the driver's side or one of these.

In addition to the useful info the above member stated; take a look at the link below to a DIY tech article from our site on this procedure.

Unless there was chassis changes later, I found it was far easier to remove the inner fender liner since its only 4-6 nuts and then you can remove and install from there (driver side)

thanks for the replies.

so which is easier, removing exhaust? or alternator and AC compressor?

I've never done either on a w211

if all else is equal id rather work from above.

will that special wrench work on the 03 sport model? it is not listed as a compatible chassis on the fitment.

thanks very much.

hope to dig into this tomorrow

'03 e320 sport, V6
