Climate control wiring diaster
Hey all, new guy here. Fighting a serious battle with my blower circuit. I swapped to a tested good motor yesterday out of a parts car that was owned literally by a little old lady. Same with the motor controller, no way to test it, but undoubtedly it worked as this is the South and AC is a MUST, especially for little old ladies.
I bought this 300TE and knew the AC and blower wasn't working. Also noted a single pole toggle switch on the dash, figuring it had something to do with it. After swapping a nearly locked up blower and a controller with the leads cut and jury rigged to run wide open, and replacing a burned out blower strap fuse, I was hoping to open the console at the climate control and find a couple of wires spliced into, which I could reconnect and have the blower working again in a few minutes.... no. There are two wires of different gauges taped together, both black and orange. I have been poring over the schematic at: http://www.w124performance.com/service/w124CD1/Program/ETM/ETM.pdf ... and cannot for the life of me find a 1mm and .75mm black and orange wire ANYWHERE in the diagram. I have a new 30amp strap fuse in the blower holder and have 12V on both sides of the fuse. I have a good fuse on #7 and backup lights working, so that should be good. I have heat control on the climate control and can select from the defroster and other options, but no fan control, no fan at all. I even swapped the climate control from the one in the parts car, no change. Reconnecting the two bk/or wires has no effect. No blowing fuses, #7 and the strap fuse are perfectly fine. The .75mm bk/or wire has 12V, the large gauge goes to ground somehow. Too cold and windy to really get out and work like I want to, but have pulled the climate control and found the wires, they look to run over the top of the steering column towards the left side. Pulled the cluster and they are below that. They can be seen to run above the ignition switch and look to continue past there. Any ideas would be just wonderful. |
