My E420 sometimes starts to vibrates when coming to a stop. The car then stalls and the malfunction indicator reads (check Engine Electronics) & ( ACC ASR Skid Control). It has been to the dealer 12 or 13 times and the last time it was repaired it was good for a month then it started happening. Many parts have been replaced. Please help!!!!!

Also is it normal for the temp. guage to be at 90 or 100 degrees in traffic.

I will leave the stalling issue to Benzmac and MB DOC but the 90-100 C temp in traffic, especially A/C+traffic, is normal. It should come back down once you get moving(hence airflow) or the electric fans kick on. If it stays up around 100 C once you are moving for awhile (cruising down highway at speedlimit+) then I would have it checked out. Sorry I can't help too much with the stalling issue. That is for Benzmac or the DOC. You wouldn't by any chance know the malfunction codes from the engine warning light or lights?

The 1997 E420 is a great car! However the throttle actuator has been known to cause quite a few problems, I'll bet you that "it" is causing the problems. Since the car has an electronic accelerator that controls all throttle functions the Benz dealer should look for the problem there.

I recently read in my owners manual that, using cell phones inside the car without an exterior antenna can cause interference with computers and electronics in my car. Is this true? Could this be the cause of my problems?
Thanks,
Aeen

In The morning when I start my car the idle stays at about 1200 RPM and the car vibrates, for a couple of minutes then the idle resumes at normal idling. Why does my car vibrate so much? Please help!
Thanks,
Aeen

Aeen,

I have a 97 E320. I experienced what you described (vibration during start up). Usually, if I don't drive the car for a couple of weeks the car would shake during the start up. If I drive it everyday, I don't have any shaking at all. Don't know if that is what you are experiencing?

There have been a few instances where cell phones w/o external antennas cause electronic interference, but very rare on a car as new as yours. The vibration could be from the motor mounts (oil filled).
