w124 interior rearview

hi,

how do i replace interior rearview mirror? any way newer models can be used? please help. thanks in advance.

rearview

Be careful not to screw up your headliner.

This is what I did. Get a screw driver flat blade very thin, but 1/4 wide. STick it in the side and there are two detents one on each side. Get one of them out and then the rear view will slide out if you pull it to the sides of the car.

I can take pictures if you want or your mercedes benz service manual library shows detailed pictures of it.

Curious.... Is there anything special about these rear view mirrors? How expensive are they? My freind said the rear view mirror on his Lexus is several hundred dollars

The interior rear view mirror is easily R & R'd. Just grab it and give a swift pull down. Replace it by shoving a new one back up there. This hold true for most Mercs from like the mid 70's up unitl like 94 or 95 when they added autoglare.
