Removing Air intake manifold 2014 GLK350

Hi:
I've a 2014 GLK350 4MATIC with the M276 (MB/Chrysler) engine. I cannot get the air intake manifold off to ease a spark plug change because I can't get a socket down into the two bolt recesses that hold the manifold on. These are the ones under the removable plate on top. Perhaps a very thin E socket would do it, but so far no luck finding something thin emough to get in the recesses.

Any help is appreciated!
