How to test ABS/ASR pump motor using a multimeter?

I removed ABS/ASR hydraulic pump motor from my 1994 E320 wagon. I wonder if there is a way to test the pump motor to find out if it is defective or not? What methods to use? Will a multimeter work? If so, how go about testing pump motor? What dial should use? Resistance, continuity? Any advice, comments, feedback is greatly appreciated.
