Oil Capacity?

Heres what may seem to be a silly question:

What is the engine oil capacity of a 1987 300E 3.0K L6 103.983 including a filter change?

The owners manual booklet that came with the car lists 6L or 6.3 US qts.

The Haynes Service and Repair Manual lists 6.5L or 6.9 quarts.

A second and related question is what is the difference between the upper (max) and lower (min) marks on the dipstick.

The owners manual that came with the vehicle lists 2.0 L or 2.1 quarts and the Haynes lists 1 L or 1.06 quarts.

hmmmmm

I have seen other capacities listes in or publications where are even different from above.

I guess when in doubt go with the owners manual that came with the car.

ideas?

Thanks!!!
