Intermittent check engine

"Check engine" light comes on, stays on a week or so. Goes off.

Comes on again, stays on a week or so. Goes off.

Wash, rinse, repeat. Four times in last month.

Any ideas? Should I have tech check it out, or ignore?

Probably something like an underperforming O2 sensor....my C240 wagon did that a couple times. Code was slow to heat O2 sensor....

The above is the first step to take. Anything else is just a WAG.
