06 E350AWD Ignition Key will not turn
I had an odd situation today, I got in the car and inserted the key but it refused to turn. The Shifter is in Neutral, and the steering wheel was not locked or putting pressure on the ignition, so I removed the key, re-inserted it with the same result.
Any idea what this might be? Or what I might try? Thanks -- |

Dead battery can cause that.

That must be my problem! Didn't know a bad battery would make it unable to turn the key. I suspected the battery was pretty low - will charge it and try again. Thanks!

How did you get the shifter into N if the key wouldn't turn?

Sorry - I meant to say Park. I charged the battery and the key went in without any trouble. Thanks for the great advice! The battery discharges pretty quickly - like in approx. 48 hours or less. I plan to buy a new one but the directions say to have a Professional Installation.
Now I need to search for directions about installing a battery.... Thanks Guys! LarryT |
