Best cupholder to get for a W124?
I just made a post about "The Wedge" cupholder, where I'll have to remove the front passenger seat's coin catcher. But short of doing that, I did want to ask, what do you think is the best cupholder to get? The Wedge was the best I'd seen, but I'm open to other suggestions.
Thanks, Jeff |

Passengers and coke
Yep, I let people bring soda's in my car. And mostly, it's not them, but me!
![]() So I gotta do something. I saw the one from ebay but mine has the special little roll cover (no glove compartment) in the middle, so I can't really take that out. Take a look at The Wedge". Gotta give them credit for doing a good job! jeff |

Cupholder for W124
I purchased 2 of these from Griots but haven't mounted them yet. They could be screwed into the doors. http://www.griotsgarage.com/catalog.jsp?&SKU=77830 No affiliation etc.

I have had one of these ( The german one that clamshells closed) in my 124's.
I literally still have the same one that I originally bought 7 years ago. High quality, works great. It fits perfectly in the front of the tray. It cups clear the front of the arm rest. It attaches with 4 small screws that go through the bottom of the holder. Steve |

Not screwing into my doors!
I'm not screwing any cupholder into my doors! Plus, where is your drink going to go when you open or close the door? It's going to splash all over the place. No can do, Amigo. I liked the idea with the belt strap kind of thing, goes under the shifter panel. No harm done to the car at all.

I have a couple of these. I think they're great. And they don't screw in to the car. Easy to remove. I guess they don't work well on our cars if you have short legs and need the seat forward. I also like the non-spill cups he sells. Good guy to deal with, too.

I did mine this way using a 1994 through 1999 Buick and Cadillac cup holder.
I can answer any questions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G5XbeLxrUe4&t=4s |

Installed a $15 marine cup holder from Amazon in my W126 in the center console, was an exact fit and works really well. I'm sure it could work with the W124 center console as well.

![]() ![]() I've uploaded a few pics of the holder I modded to show the finished results. I would probably not do this on a pristine console, but mine had some missing lining on the bottom, so I glued some thin black speaker carpeting to the troubled area and proceeded with the installation. I bought a cup holder on Amazon: one of those awful door mounted holders that no respectable Mercedes owner would ever mount on there prized Benz. But,I had other ideas for using it. I can provide links to this holder if any one is interested in doing this similar mod. The holder itself is an aftermarket USA made piece and decent quality. I simply pried off & discarded the cover which concealed the holder and cut the cupholder bracket in half. There are four screws which normally mount the bracket to a door panel. after cutting the bracket in half you can use the 2 mounting holes left at the top(optional).I chose to bond the bracket directly to the inside of the console using JB Weld epoxy. You need to remove a small section of the original felt lining to give the epoxy something solid to grip to. I used a dremel sanding drum and x-acto knife marked off the area using masking tape for a clean install. Once the section of felt is removed and you're down to the plastic, you can bond the piece on. use some small spring clamps to hold the bracket in place while the epoxy sets up. You'll also want to measure the length of the bracket before cutting to ensure it won't interfere with closing the roll top. As you can see from the pics, the holder folds down when not in use allowing full ![]() ![]() Bruce (dcman2003) |
