190D 2.2 Advice Please
84 2.2 190D
Does anyone know: Can I roll a new timimg chain in? Should I try a new tensioner ($40) first, and will anything fall into the pan (or apart) if I pull the tensioner to inspect it? Thanks Last edited by Trace; 06-17-2002 at 07:55 PM. |

OK, I guess I'll just try it then. The worst that can hopefully happen is I will have to tear it apart. I got the chain and tensioner so I'm gonna have a stab at rolling it in. I will search through here to find out if I should leave the tensioner in while I roll it in.
Also, this car has is a 5spd and has an oddball balancer on the front of the driveshaft that is broken, but Benz won't sell it without the front half of the shaft, which is $800 for the assembly. Has anyone ever eliminated one of these things and just balanced the shaft? Thanks. |

You could try reposting this on the Diesel Discussion board. It might get a better response.
