My 1988 420 SEL makes a humming noise when it's cold and you turn the stering wheel. Sounds similiar to other cars I've had that need power stering fluid, but I can't find any caps or dip sticks to check it. The noise stops when the car gets hot. Any ideas?

The fluid level is best at about 1 to 1 1/2 in from the top of the reservoir. The lid is on top of a silver cylinder located on the top left of the engine. (The top left of the engine is as you are sitting in the car IE the right side as you are standing in front of it), There is a small plastic black knob on top, unscrew it counter clockwise and lift off the silver cap.
