Rear dome light does not function with any doors
I just purchased a 1990 300E with 132000 miles on it. When I open the front or rear doors the rear dome light does not come on, but it does come on with the switch on the dash. I know the door switches are working because the lights underneith the doors light up when they are opened. Any ideas??? Thanks guys.... -- Mike

I don't think it is supposed to come on with the doors. Mine in my 92 300ce doesn't. it only comes on when I turn it on with the dash switch.

Same on mine. Only works with the switch.
This is how the Mercedes engineers, designers, mechanics, planners, accountants, marketing, legal, public affairs, production managers decided it should and will work after a long meeting, held on a Monday morning 10: o'clock, after a long week-end. And all these guys had a big bonus at the end of the year. JackD |

Well, on my 1989 300SE the rear dome light comes on with the switch as well, but with the added bonus of coming on when the rear doors are opened. The light does not come on however, when the front doors are opened alone.
I'm sorry that I don't have an answer for you, but did you try the switch that's attached to the front dome light? (if your car has one. ???) Geo.
