How have you compressed the calipers or pushed back the pads?

Front brakes
I can’t press them back with a clamp, I just got the car running last night so I’ll try bleed all the drakes then see if I can remove the front calibers.

Put a large screwdriver or small pry par between the pad and the rotor and push the piston back. If you are using a large clamp over the entire caliper it will not work.
Good luck!!!

thats odd, I remember they are floating type calipers which can be pushed with a massive C clamp with one edge on piston housing, one edge on front pad.

@Z, if you remember them as floating calipers then I am wrong.
Edit...they are floating calipers, thanks for chiming in. Sorry for the bad info.

no problem SB - no need to apologize.
anyway I think the OP has stuck caliper pins, this will require some brute force work - starting with a file to shave away the top lip on the rotor. Then the caliper can be persuaded with a hammer.

Thanks for all the help, I was able to get the calipers off. I bleed the brakes again, then removed the right brake line from the caliper and hammered the pad in with a brass drift, this freed it up.
I did both sides and replaced both brake lines. Then re bleed the system completely again. Thanks for all the help. |
