M120 Oil Leaking all over Alternator

I have an M120 engine out of a 1996 SL600. Since this engine is installed on a 107 its difficult to see where its coming from and removal of the alternator requires removal of the front subframe. So I would like to get some ideas of what to look for. Are there any common leaks that would originate from above the alternator. I'm thinking the right valve cover gasket might be it, but its a lot of work for a guess.
