Smoke from engine bay under exhaust manifold after a month parked
Hi
w123 200 petrol not driven her for about a month had to jump start, started up fine but once the engine was warm had a bit of smoke kind of black to white colour from under the exhaust manifold. Engine temp stayed fine and no smoke from exhaust itself… funny kind of smell can’t distinguish between oil or coolant or maybe both! did notice a big button size oil stain on driveway.. no noticeable oil leaks on that size of engine bay. hard to pinpoint where, hoping it’s not head gasket, rocker cover gasket was changed when I last did valve adjustment (1/2 years ago) any pointers? Advice? Caught a bit of the smoke on video. Safe to drive? https://gifyu.com/image/SxuAM looks to be leaking down here any ideas where it’s coming from? Will degrease and see if I can find the origin ![]() ![]() |

I'd suspect a leak dropping on the manifold.

Need to degrease and see if I can pinpoint where it’s coming from…
Was worried it might be head gasket but car runs fine has the odd little miss at high revs but thinking of doing a compression/leak test to clarify |

Did a degrease nothing smoking but once engine got nice and hot had a bit of smoke but no leaks
Also think middle bolt is missing from exhaust is the gasket perished? ![]() |

Smoking engine update
Went for a long drive engine not smoking anymore but noticed oil leak from base of distributor. I changed the o ring last year but on some manuals says it doesn’t actually need an o ring
Anyone clarify? ![]() |
