I'm not sure about the scanner but I'm always suspicious of sellers that keep their feedback comments private.

I inquired about what this consisted of and how it worked , both with the seller, as well as with someone who had won an auction for this. The person who had bought it never replied. Specifically I wanted to know if this s/w could communicate with and do resets of sub-modules such as transmission, ABS,airbag etc. I was also interested in knowing if there is some sort of interface box or cable like the Snap-On MT2500 has.

The seller said the following
Hi,
Software consists of 1 CD which you can install into a laptop, ther's 38 pin cable it says that you need multiplexer but I conect it directly to serial port and for erasing faulty codes it works .I never did anything on transmission

This answer did not exactly inspire confidence so I stayed away from it. It sounds too good to be true, $150-$160 for software with this kind of functionality and it probably is.

I traded few email messages with the seller and his answers were always very vague. Does Mercedes make such software at all? What does dealer use?

what he sells definately is not by mercedes, their diagnostic software with the required hardware goes for thousands of dollars, what he uses is likely an obd II generic tool. mercedes dealer uses Stardiagnosis software.
