I have similar problem with my 1987 190E 2.3. I was told that the compressor cooling fan was not working, and when tried to spin the fan by hand, I found that it may be "stuck", meaning it does not spin freely (when try to with hand). Is it suppose to be like that (fan not suppose to spin freely when push by hand)? When is the relay, may be I should check that before doing any thing on the fan?? Any thoughts, comments, or suggestions? Thanks...

The water pump has a sensor on the side of it that when it fails will cut out the compressor completely. Just unplug it and the compressor should come on!
CBTEOH, The fan should freewheel with the engine off. |
