Replacing struts on C240
My son's 2003 C240 is in need of new front struts and rear shocks. I have found tons of aftermarket front strut assemblies with springs and all attached-which is obviously an easier fix (and cheaper) because I don't have to worry about compressing the springs. He is ok with this, but is this too big a sacrifice? Would using the old springs with Sachs struts be a huge improvement?
He doesn't drive this car much - just a 2nd, run-around town vehicle... I can compress the springs (If I can find the right compressor), but the other is much easier. Thoughts? Thanks, in advance. ryan

I wouldn't think twice replacing the complete assembly. I would suggest sticking with Bilstein struts though.

That's the rub - I can't find a Sachs or Bilstein complete assembly anywhere.
The only complete assembly struts are all aftermarket brands - brands I've never heard of.
