190e 16v Manual Swap

Was hoping someone here might be able to shed some light on this for me.

I may be grabbing a 16v with an automatic transmission. I have a line on a manual transmission, but it is the transmission only.

What are the other parts I'd need in order to complete a swap and how difficult would they be to find? Any chance someone has a parts list handy or could whip one up so I could start seeing how bad it might be?

Thanks!

The manual transmission for the 190E 2.3 16V is specific for the that model the transmission 717404 is made by Getrug and it’s very hard to get and more expensive then other manual transmissions. And you’re going to need the pedals, shifter with rods specific for the 717404 transmission driveshaft also specific for that 16V flywheel good luck

So are the rods for the shifter assembly the only difference between the 16v shifter and any other W201 shifter?

Pedals are not specific to the W201 if I recall (W124 works as well?)?

It appears I can find a flywheel and clutch somewhat easily (Renntech as an example).

Driveshaft might prove a bit more difficult.

What else is missing from the list? Transmission mount?

you may get by with shortening your existing ds. also clutch hydraulics and bell housing. Also instrument cluster

Best bet is to buy a complete donor car.

The shifter for the 16V is specific for the 16V the shifter pattern is different is called dogleg. Yes pedals you can use from W201 or W124 and the driveshaft is specific or custom made

Finding a donor car will be a nightmare.

Clutch hydraulics (master and slave I presume)?

Why the instrument cluster?

Bell housing I presume you mean the transmission itself, correct?

I knew that. I wasn't sure if the actual shifter itself was anything special. I've seen short shift kits for sale that I was wondering if I used the bars from that would work on any shifter that I found or if there was more to the assembly.

I need to dig on that site harder. I'm a member there. Was a member there back when I was a kid. My first car was a 190d and I always wanted a 16v.

sometimes they install different speedos for automatic cars because of rear end final ratios...it is so on 123 cars, not sure about 190s.
