Odometer rolls 3X faster than mileage driven. W126

Both the odometer and trip meter on my W126 300SE are rolling 3x faster as they should. I noticed it after I did an oil change, could it be related, cable damaged when I changed the oil filter?

6 months ago I repaired the trip meter, the gear was shot and replaced it with a new gear I bought from eBay. Worked fine and according to the GPS on my phone it was running accurate.

Thanks.

As you know it is pretty easy to pull out the instrument panel and address the odometer. I would just take a look. I will bet you can spot the problem visually - sounds like one of the gears again.

Will have to check it again. Read on the web that when both the odometer and trip meter are rolling to fast it's most likely an electric issue related to the transmission giving a wrong signal.
