Gas on throttle valve butterfly???
I have a 190E 2.3L that has a hard start after it has warmed up. I have tried everything, but I decided to remove the air flow meter (housing) that the fuel distributor sits on.
Upon removal I notice a pool of gas sitting on the butterfly of the throttle valve housing. Is that correct? I tend to think that it is not, but I thought I would ask and see what you guys think. If that is not correct I could see why it would cause a hard start because it is sucking raw fuel into the cylinder. If any body has any ideas or thoughts that would be terrific. I have already replaced the fuel distributor, but I replaced it with a used one. Could the air flow meter (housing) cause the fuel distributor to leak the fuel? I look forward to any help. Thanks, Gards Hopefully the weather at Hockenhiem is hot and we can get a first pole for Mclaren Mercedes-Benz |

About the only way I can see that happening is by the fuel head leaking from mertering pintle. ITs right there in the middle of the bottem of the head.
This could definatly cause hard hot starts as it'll bleed off all the system pressure and most of the control pressure. Leak test the system, a new or reman fuel head might be in order. Most hot soak start issues with KE (cis) are related to internal fuel leaks and really are easy fixes once you get past the money thing. Joe

Thanks for the reply. Is the mertering pintle in the fuel distributor or is it in the air flow housing that the fuel distributor sits on? Also, what is the fuel head? Is that the fuel distributor itself or something else?
Again thanks for the comments. Gards |

Dead center of the fuel head, the o-ring that seals the head to the housinf surrounds it.
