Question Need Help - A/C on 190E

I own a 1992 190E - 2.3 (purchased used). I love the car but wonder if it is normal for the A/C to shut down when the car is idleing - at drive thoughs, stop lights, heavy traffic, etc. The A/C works very well when the car is cruising along at normal city and highway speeds.

201's generally work pretty well.

Common faults.

Vacum leaks
Low freon due to leaks.
Aux fans inop

What do you mean "shut down"? Output temps get high?

Exactly. The air output temperature comes very close to the outside air temperature and in this part of the country (West Tennessee) that can get pretty uncomfortable in late July and August. I often reconsider stopping for a fast food burger and extra large chili cheese fries. I avoid red-lights at all costs driving many miles out of my way - thankful for the "right turn on red" laws.

Thanks for the input!

TD
