drive belt
 

i am the owner of a '90 190e with a 2.6 engine. i was replacing the water pump when i noticed a loose drive belt ( 1 inch play) . so thought was good idea to replace tensioner at the same time. however upon completion all was the same ( 1 inch play ). any ideas as to the problem. note: i found 88 & 89 manufactor dates on pump and tensioner. so i also bought shorter 89 belt but seems to short. thanx.
