Driving w/o CC Module

The cruise control in my '87 560SEL has never worked very well and is only getting worse. It is my understanding from searching through the archieves here and on mbz.org that the most common failure is the control module under the dash which can often be fixed by resoldering all of the contacts on the board. I figure I have nothing to loose by trying this but want to know if the car can be driving with this module removed without doing damage to other components. I ask as I suspect it will take me a day or two to get through all the connections and don't want to sideline the car during the process.

Thanks in advance.

Steve,

Thanks. I figured as much but wanted to get an expert opinion especially since I'm not used to some of the complexities with M-B yet.
