W124 Trunk lid Triangle mounting

I was able to locate the W124 emergency triangle and bracket that attaches to the W124 trunk lid.

However, I can't figure how to install the bracket.

Please advise. Pictures would help as well.

Thanks,
:-) neil

Did you ever figure out how to install it? I've been thinking about it..where did you find the bracket and triangle?

if, in keeping with the general MB philosophy of making parts as universal as possible between model lines, the system is the same as the W201, and i have little reason to believe that it would be different, the feet of the triangle will slip into two holes at the bottom (front edge) of the trunk lid and the plastic bracket that retains the top of the triangle will slip into the holes at the top (back end) of the lid and slide to one side to lock into place.

if your W124 trunk lid has a lining,as in the 500E/E500, you will have to remove the lining to see the mounting. in order to use the triagle, you will have to either cut out the moulded triangular section of the lining or omit the lining altogether.

hope this helps.

Emergency Triangle

The part# I got from the Parts Shop is:

140-590-0212 for the triangle
140-890-0014 for the bracket

What I need to know is ...
What do I do with the trunk lid lining to make this work?

re: the north american safety triangle: we don't have the white field with the vertical bar, just the reflective frame

AUF can also mean open or out. it all depends on the context

you have to either:

1) remove the liner and cut out a portion of it to allow for access to the triangle and then reinstall the modified liner and THEN mount the triangle. or

2) remove the liner altogether and leave it out prior to mounting the triangle.
