300e Timing Marks
I'm having a little problem getting my crank and cam at TDC. I'm not sure what the indicators are supppose to line up with. If anyone has any pics or can give a good description it would be very helpful.
thanks, Jim 86 300e |

On the balancer on the crank, TDC is the line with OT on each side, looks like O\T, that should line up with the short pin on the chain cover next to the tdc sensor. Then on the cam, on the front bearing bracket there is a small pointed part on the casting on the front, there is a small drilled hole on top of the cam (between the sprocket and front bearing, there is a lip that goes around the cam this hole drilled in to) which should line up with it. If it doesn't and you can't even see the small drilled hole, rotate the crankshaft 360 degrees (one turn) as you probably aren't on tdc on the power stroke, but on the exhaust stroke.

Thanks for the help. I've ordered the cd manual, but I didn't want to wait for it to get started.
