380-sl electrical Help.

Turned ignition, started car, then tried to close elec windows.
Nothing happened! I then noticed that all guages except vacuum
operated economy guage are also not working. All fuses intact. Any assistance provided would be most greatly appreciated. I
just started my vacation today and this sucks.

380elec problem

My 380 had a problem with the gauges.Itraced it to a bad ground in the printed circut. I unwrapped the 4 wire harness and cut the brown wire, stripped the ends and fastened a3rd wire to it. The other end of it Ibolted to the instrument cluster where it hit the ground band of the circut. This may not be your problem but Ihope it helps someone. My gauges would flutter at 1st,then they wouldn't work, then when I used my turn signals all gauges except the vacume gauge would go up and down. MBgets about $350 for the part. Got lucky, spent 98cents.

Thumbs up 380-sl electrical Help.

Vacation Saved! Local indie mech. squeezed my problem into his already busy Sat. sched.. Turned out to be an easy fix: Corroded
connections at main terminal block. Also replaced all fuses, as they
were original. Total cost $78.00. Coincidentally, erratic, rolling idle
also resolved. Thanx for the suggestions. Great forum!
